Creativity Club Design Team first ever blog hop

Hey everyone..... a massive welcome to the first ever Do Crafts Creativity Design Team blog hop.... If you are a regular on my blog - a massive wave to you...... thank you for coming back to visit..... if this is your first visit to me and you have found me along the hop - welcome, welcome, welcome.... it's lovely to see you here. Grab yourself a drink, pull up a chair and come along with me on my crazy crafting journey.....
Thank you for hopping on by.
The dt have been very busy creating projects (they really are a very talented bunch!)......
Here is the project that I created for the hop....

I used some of the downloads available to all Creativity members of the club over on www.docrafts.com. I have also been playing with some of the latest goodies from Do Crafts, some of my favourites from this crafty loop are the wonderful build a scene dies..... you get stunning results with these dies and they work in all die cutting machines..... I can see me using these time and time again.

Here is the list of designers who are taking part in the hop, it would be great if you could pop on over to their blogs and leave them some love.... They have some brilliant projects to show you.....

3. Keren
7. Katie
8. Jill

And if you have hopped on over from the Crafting Cafe group on Facebook (check out the link at the top of my blog if you would like to come and join us) - a massive wave to all of you too! I love hopping around to see what my Crafting Cafe Crew have been up to.

Right I'm off to hop around the list too before I finish that massive amount of die cutting that I am working my through for a Do Crafts project that needs to be sent off to head office. I'll share the pics and maybe a sneaky peek or two when I can.

Happy crafting

What a week.....

7 days that have all been filled to the max!
Some things good..... some things not so much (but these things are outwith my control, so I refuse to give them or the person creating the drama, the time of day!)
Back to the fun stuff though.....
I have had a few commissions to do this week so I wanted to share them with you......

I have also been very busy creating samples for 31 of the Dobbies stores across the country. They are selling some great Do Crafts kits..... make sure you have a look next times you are in any of their garden centres ... they are a great gift for any crafters that you know too......
Here are some of the 200+ samples that I made over 3 days..... I told you it was a tad busy! lol

What creative things have you been up to? My plan for this weekend is to work on some DT projects and some tutorials for my blog.... really looking forward to some creative time.......
I'll be spending some time blog hopping too....... leave me your blog address as a comment and I'll be sure to pop on over and leave some love on your blog....

Crafty mash up

I was set a crafty challenge by a girl at work a couple of months ago.
She was heading to a wedding and wanted to commission me to make a card...... the theme was to be Scottish meets Irish...... new challenge on me! lol
No as everyone knows, I do love a challenge, so I got my thinking cap on and this is what I came up with..

Their invitation had a thistle with a shamrock on it..... so I just recreated it (with a twist and Nikki style)...
I've been told that they loved the card - it's always nice to know that the person who ends up with the card enjoys it....
This weekend I am creating some samples that could well be making it to a garden centre near you! I'll take loads of pics and do a blog post when I can...... There are 200 samples to make in the weekend with everything from cards to bunting and children's crafts..... Better get back to it...

Hope you have a great weekend, whatever you are doing.

Blog your heart out - my turn!

I have been tagged by the uber talented Jill Pryor to take part in Blog Your Heart Out.
I am to answer the 5 set questions about myself and my blogging, then I nominate and tag in some other great bloggers and they give their answers...... It's a brilliant way to get to know a little bit about the people behind the blogs........

Here goes...

Who/What encouraged you to start blogging?
Originally with my first blog I used it like an online diary..... family days out, things I had been up to, my travels demoing for Do Crafts and then some sample making. People out and about would ask me if there was somewhere they could see some of my cards or learn how to make them as after demos they would forget - so it was a great place to have to send people for reminders.

How did you choose what to blog about?
I love all things crafty and I love to share what I have been up to or project ideas with everyone so on my new blog (this one) it has always been easy to find crafty things that I was to share.

What is something most people don`t know about you?
A lot of people don't know I am ambidextrous. This comes in sooooo handy with crafting as I am often juggling lots of things on my desk at the same time.

What three words describe your style?
Eclectic, organised and positive.
No matter what the challenges are, I try to always stay positive.

What do you love to do when you are not blogging?
I love spending time with my wonderful son, he is such a wonderful, caring young man. We have 2 rescue springy spaniel pupsters and they are fabby to be around. Walks around the beautiful part of Scotland that we live in or trips to the beach to collect driftwood or shells.
I love to craft..... any type..... most of all I love to do papercrafts......

Right then that's my 5 questions answered, now I tag;
All of my Crafting Cafe Design Team.......

Before I go, here are a couple of my latest commissions........ just wanted to share them too x

Even if I haven't tagged you in this post, you can still join in....
Just copy the 5 questions and answer them on your blog.
Let me know if you do and I will pop over and leave you a comment.

60 shades of grey

It was a special birthday for a friend of mine last month so I just had to make a special card just for her..... I thought I would play around with the 50 shades of grey title and create her very own 60 shades of grey card. (there are indeed 60 shades of grey on this card....... every promarker, pencil and pen in grey that I had was used!lol)
She loves dragons and books so this was the card that I came up with.....

I taught her how to make these roses, so they just had to be on the card!!!
As the card has a filigree front that is all laser cut, I thought I would decorate the inside of the card too.

I am glad to report that she loved it.... it's nice when you get that kind of reaction.
The sun is shining here and I am working in my pjs...... creating some dt projects that I will share with you when I can...
What ever you are up to today..... hope it's fab!

Reach for the stars.......

Well another Monday here so that means it's time for my #docraftsmonday post and also a very proud mum post.....
Kris, who a lot of you will know, is my son. He is a super son and I am soooo proud of him I could burst. I normally keep my blog for all my crafty things but today I wanted to dedicate my post to Kris.
He has not always had it easy, he has me for a mum for a start! lol..... but really, that has not always been easy for him as I have had illness darken my door a lot over the past few years and since he was 4 he has had to help me with a lot of things..... So thank you Kris for always being there and for being like a shining light for me when things were dark.
His Dad died 5 years ago and then Kris developed alopecia. Again, he faced the world bravely and made sure I was always doing ok.
So this week it's all about him, today is his first official day at his new job. A job that I think he will be amazing at and a job where he can really make a difference....
Kris left school and went straight into mechanics..... now, to say his place of employment was awful is an understatement, but he stuck it out for 7 years and in fairness he made some good friends and worked with some good people along the way. But now it's time for a new adventure......
So good luck Kris.... I think you will be a fantastic carer.
He really is one of the very best....

Here is the card I made for Kris......

Have a great bank holiday Monday and remember to share your #docraftsmonday posts on fb or twitter with us.

Creatures.....

is the theme for the new challenge over on the Crafting Cafe.....
The design team have been given some fabby images to play with again this month and they are all busy crafting away to create their inspiration posts for you.
I get to do the launch post (yay....) so here is the card I created for that ....

We would love to have you come along and visit the blog and join in with us. Pop on over to the blog to find out all about this months challenge, the sponsor for this month and the fab prize that they have on offer.....
If you enter the challenge just have a quick read over the rules (there really isn't a lot of rules) and then fill in the linky thing (thanks to Dawn every month..... she always puts up the linky thing.... learning how to do it is on my to do list...... she says it's easy...... )....
Have a great crafty filled weekend.
